The Tradition of Tladi
According to the ancient traditions of the Sotho people of Gauteng, Tladi is the African equivalent of the Thunderbird, the bringer of lightning. The "Milky Way" known as molala-tladi, is "the roosting place of the tladi bird" and in Sotho belief, the molala-tladi "supports the sky, preventing it from falling on the earth."
